About Me
Prior to rejoining Penton in November 2007, I practiced law in Littleton, Colorado. My legal practice focus was family law, criminal defense, probate, and estate planning. I owned my own firm from April 2004 until joining the law firm of Prendergast & Associates in June 2007.
From 1997 until December 2003, I was an editor and writer for technology publications, and did some sports writing on the side.
From May 1997 until November 2002, I served in almost every editorial position available for Boardwatch Magazine and the Boardwatch Magazine Directory of Internet Service Providers, including Editor in Chief, Managing Editor, and Associate Editor. I also worked as the Conference Chairman for the CLEC Magazine trade show, and as a Contributing Editor for the ISPWorld.com Web site.
In November 2002, when it was obvious the tech crash and 9/11 would cause the magazine and trade shows to fail, I moved to PriMedia Business Magazines & Media as Editor in Chief and Web Editor for RF Design magazine and Defense Electronics magazine.
I also wrote freelance sports stories, including a 2002 high school basketball forecast for a Denver, Colorado, sports magazine named Mile High Sports Magazine. The piece never made it into the magazine due to page-count restrictions, but it was published on the local ABC television affiliate Web site (www.9news.com).
My education is in liberal arts, law and publishing. I attended The Colorado College for undergraduate studies, and the University of Denver College of Law for graduate school. I also completed the University of Denver Publishing Institute in the summer of 1996.
I live in Englewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver, with my wife Wendy and two spoiled cats (Julia and Jerry).
